Bread & Butter Pickles

Ingredients:
  • ​4 Qts. sliced medium Cucumbers
  • 8 medium White Onions
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1/3 cup pickling salt or non-iodized salt
  • ​4 cups Sugar
  • 3 cups Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tbls. NHHS Mustard Seed​
  • 1-1/2 teas. NHHS Turmeric
  • 1-1/2 teas. NHHS Celery Seed

​Directions:
​In a large bowl, combine first four ingredients.  

Stir in large amount of cracked ice. Let stand 3 hours; drain well.

Remove garlic.

In a large kettle, combine remaining ingredients; add drained mixture.
Bring to a boil, then shut off and let cool.

Put in plastic containers and put in freezer for a least two weeks.*

* If you prefer, you may can these the old fashioned way!
