Bread & Butter Pickles
Ingredients:
- 4 Qts. sliced medium Cucumbers
- 8 medium White Onions
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1/3 cup pickling salt or non-iodized salt
- 4 cups Sugar
- 3 cups Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tbls. NHHS Mustard Seed
- 1-1/2 teas. NHHS Turmeric
- 1-1/2 teas. NHHS Celery Seed
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine first four ingredients. Stir in large amount of cracked ice. Let stand 3 hours; drain well. Remove garlic. In a large kettle, combine remaining ingredients; add drained mixture. Bring to a boil, then shut off and let cool. Put in plastic containers and put in freezer for a least two weeks.* * If you prefer, you may can these the old fashioned way! Enjoy! |
