Sage is the dried ground leaves of the evergreen subshrub Salvia officinalis, a member of the mint family. It has a savoury,woody,herbal flavor. Sage appears in many European cuisines, notably Italian, Balkan and Middle Eastern. It is also used in traditional preparations of sausage, stuffing and roasted turkey or chicken for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Holiday meals.
